Summer in Italy - Taking Public Transit - August 2025
I spent a couple days in Italy last August exploring Milan, Turin, and Florence. There was so much to see and eat, and the way I got around was by walking and riding public transit to get from my point A's to point B's.

Milan utilizes an extensive metro, and bus network that takes you around inner city as well as the outer suburbs. However, the trams are only geolocated to specific inner city tourist areas.

45 minutes outside of the Milan metro area, I found myself in a busy and bustling touristy section along Milan's Canals. It was prime evening time, so numerous restaurants that cater and serve any and all sorts of cuisines were open for business. Sidewalk vendors that sold little trinkets and gifts dotted sections here and there.

Being in Europe, where the streets are narrower than streets in America, the cars and vehicles take up a lot less of a footprint. You still see commercial trucks or delivery vehicles, but they pale in comparison to size.

Thanks for sticking to the end, as an advocate of public transit and walkable cities, I had a great time exploring and sightseeing Milan without the need for a personal car.
